I know we bandied about somewhere up in the northern climes for this year, closer to Clara I think. We're good after mid May.

Don't count on us until Fall. Hannah graduates from BMT on June 30 in Lachland, Texas and then goes to tech school. After that she will be stationed somewhere(we don't know) and we will be helping here move. So we have to big trips planned for the summer and won't be available until fall. I was hoping to meet Clara but... looks like it won't happen this time around.

Don't count yourself out. It may be that we end up culling our 2 down to 1 conference. That's JMO but it does seem to be hard to make those arrangements.

I've been waiting to see what others had to say regarding this.

There is MUCH to see and do in our area. I'd be happy to help plan it.

HOWEVER, my health is declining (difficult to admit that), and I would not be able to join you on many excursions that would involve walking.

Keep in mind, I have to haul around an oxygen tank every place I go; each one will last about 4-5 hours, but I do have several. Walking any distance really tires me out and has me out of breath.

I could drive you there, drop you off, and pick you up later.

You are also welcome to come individually . . . I could overnight at my home 1 couple and 1 single at a time; there are also 3 couches available, although one of them is shorter, so I guess 6 maximum.

Mid-May and beyond would likely have better weather for sightseeing, although this winter has been quite mild; at no time this week is it expected to drop below 36 degrees during the day. Keep in mind,
Michigan weather can be unpredictable.

I would very much like to see you, but I understand the quandry this presents.

Clara, are you utilizing any of the scooter chairs? My mom uses hers because of her neuropathy. Any distance walking and she's a hurting pup.

I'll stock up on ammo. The wifes sister had to transfer with her job to Warren, MI and so far has had her purse snatched and all the tires and wheels stolen off of her car.... The worse part is that her husband is a cop back here.

Shawn (and everyone).. Like you I have a ton of turn overs at the end of May.. But by early June I am usually able to get away for a long weekend.. and it shouldn't be too hot at that point in Detroit.

When I get a second I will look at a calendar and run some dates by Clara and float them out there for you all.. I know we will never pick the perfect date for everyone to make it.. But I do work at finding a date where many can make it work.

Clara, I so wish I (or we) could make it. I would love to meet you. Who cares about the excursions and the walking and the side trips. It's about being together. All that other "stuff" is just not important. So don't ever apologize.

Where I live, Allen Park, is relatively safe. (Is anyplace completely 'safe'?)

The current Mayor lived next door for 38 years (we've been here 41), and now his daughter lives there with her Police Officer husband and children.

We're about 15 minutes from Detroit Metro Airport, and within 10 minutes of 4 freeways. Getting anyplace is really easy.

Our deck and family room are rather large areas and can accommodate several people.

June is usually a good month for gatherings. It would be great to reconnect with the several of you I have previously met.

I would be interested in driving back to Allen Park again Clara. I'd like to stay, at your home. I could bring an air matress. I did for the gang in Mexico,Mo.

I'd schlep my golf clubs along, then Richard and I or whomever, could hit the links.

I'd like to revisit Portofino's Restaurant.

Clara, could you scope out the accomodations near you? I know the great digs we stayed at in Portland are a hard act to follow but there WERE then nicest!

Early, mid June would work for us I think so when you get a chance Sean, jump on it.

Joe and Janet are on the "reserved" list to stay here.

The closest hotel/motel is about 1-2 miles away, a Holiday Inn. Our landlord's association used to have their meetings there. It's quite nice, with an indoor swimming pool, and right off the I-75 freeway.
Across the street from that one is at least one more, can't think of the name at the moment; I believe it would be less expensive, but I don't know what is offered.

There are others that are quite nice, but a bit further away.

I will be glad to "scope" things out by telephone; primarily need a date and approximately number who will be utilizing the hotel/motel.

Joe brought up Portofino's . . . that definitely is a possibility.
