Mobile Home supplies
« on: February 14, 2012, 07:37:32 AM »
We have a couple of mh supplies places, not much in them though.

We need 3 of the raised panel doors.  What the heck?  Why are they so expensive?  $60 is alot for hollow door and one that is smaller than a standard door, but only by a smidge.

Is that really the only thing in a mh that is off?  Well, other than the carpet tucked and the vinyl that runs under every wall.

Have you found the doors anywhere else?  Lowe's couldn't order any so I'm stuck at the mh place?

The standard 28" MH doors are $42 here in Sumter, at Wally's hardware.  He specializes in all things MH.
There are several places in Lexington that do the same.
I'm guessing you have fewer MHs in the mountains, and therefore fewer MH supply houses.
Bring your sweetie and come to Sumter for your doors, Sweetie and I will feed you a good meal before you head home again.
This guy is in WA state (thanks Steve!), but you can order online.  He has good prices on everything MH.  www.mobilehomerepair.com

Thanks Gordon.  And no, we've tons of mh's here in the upstate.  I'm constantly amazed at the places they put them.  I need to follow a house down the road some day just to watch them put them down a holler or up a mountain.  It's a whole 'nother thing than building a stick built house.  Some places up here are just barely scratched out one day and then, voila' (throwing my hands in the air) a new house by supper or dinner for some of you.

And thanks for the offer for a feed.  I will be checking other supply houses around to see what they have.

Any doors I've needed for MH I just cut down a regular door.

Don’t know for sure how much a smidge is.  Guessing less than ½ inch.

I’m with TomL.

When I had that problem I just took an electric plane and trimmed down the hinge side of the door and then re-cut the hinge notches.  Less noticable and didn't have to reset the door knob.

Didn’t take long and was repainting the doors anyway so all worked out well.

Yes Mike a smidge is just that, frog hair thin, less than a 1/2 inch or so.
